During August, our garden was transformed from what it was like before into something Gemma and I aren't allowed into anymore. Let me explain.
Just after I took command of Ian and Julie's house, I trained them to understand when I want to go out into said what-it-was-like-before garden. I would stand at the door and look up at them with my big round eyes and, if necessary, scrape the door with a paw. They would open the door as requested in dog language. Just recently though, this has stopped working: they seem to have forgotten how to remember what 'that look' means and, in addition, Ian keeps saying something about a new lawn. He says that it has to be watered every day for three weeks and that, in the meantime, no one and no dog is allowed on it. He says I can go out after that time.
Well excuse me, but how does he expect me to cross my paws all that time - it's just not pawsible! He's very lucky I haven't reported him to Dog Line for causing all this inconvenience!
There is a plus side however. We get lots and lots of walks - long ones, medium-sized ones, short ones, and ones to the end of the path and back, which you'd miss if you blinked. These to-the-end-of-the-path walks have temporarily replaced being let out into the garden to do what we have to do... That's fine, but Ian and Julie do insist on accompanying us which is abit embarrassing (how would they like it?).
Anyway, the new garden looks fantastic - I can see it through the big window called a patio door. The lawn is very green compared to the last time I was allowed on it, when it was very brown and muddy. If I remember correctly what our neighbour's lawn looks like after a long period of dry weather, I think the grass is actually greener now on this side...
